Creating a custom dress with Columbian designer, Estefania.

It was early January when I initially reached out to Columbian designer, Estefania. She had been on my radar for some time as her feminine and architectural dresses had always caught my eye. I reached out to discuss some of the looks for potential clients when she mentioned a bespoke offering. Selfishly, the conversation became about designing a dress for myself, and the collaboration began….

The process

HOW IT ALL BEGAN:

Over a handful of Zoom calls, Estefania and discussed some upcoming events I had where a custom dress would be needed. We both began collecting imagery for inspiration to create a final mood board that reflected my personality, style, and vision.

THE INSPIRATION:

We focused on creating a dress for a black-tie event. I wanted the dress to have movement for dancing. We had initially discussed feathers, but we both felt that they were so trendy we decided to stay clear and liked the idea of playing with a tassel instead. At this point, Estefania was off to design the dress!

THE PROCESS:

The entire experience was exciting from start to finish. Estefania presented me with four incredible dress sketches, fabric choices, and color options. She walked me through taking measurements over and then the work was left to Estefania and her atelier team.
